National Schoolwear Centres Plymouth Reviews

If i could give zero stars for this place then i would , i bought a new jumper for my son and found when i returned home that some of the stitching at the bottom was coming away , the following day i returned the jumper and was told point blank that she would not give a refund or exchange the jumper as my son had pulled it apart even though he had only put in on once and that was in the shop . The woman then pulled the bottom of the jumper ripping all the stitches to tell me that is what my son had done to it and it was his fault . I would never go their again or recommend it to anyone else , the attitude of the staff was beyond belief , they are all smiles and happy when taking your money but if your have an issue with anything forget taking it back unless you want to be insulted .

Having read the reviews on this site, i am amazed people only seem to write reviews in copmplaint. I have only just needed to use this shop, with my son being a new starter at Riverside Primary. I am guilty of being a very late shopper. I feel i may have overheard the conversation between the Manager and the irate customer about her shirts, actually the customer attempted to involve me, by bad mouthing the shop and the staff. The Managere and her sales staff were very professional in there manner and courteous at all times, even though they and customers in the shop were suffering abuse. When i eventually got served after witnessing this, the staff were calm, apologetic, not proportioning blame, completely professional and im happy to say had what i wanted, even though i had left it very late. I would recommend this shop to all my friends and family. And wish more people who have had a good experience would leave comments. Thats life though.

Do not go to this shop the Customer Service is atrocious and the way they speak to you is patronising, arrogant and I would go as far to say in a bullying, intimidating manner. I bought my son 3 packs of school shirts there a few weeks ago, wasn’t sure about the size so asked if they could advise and measure him as you cannot open the packets and try on the shirts you are purchasing unfortunately. When I opened the first packet to iron ready for school discovered that they were huge and way too big for my son. When returning the shirts I explained that I had purchased the shirts in good faith after the shops staff had measured my son and told me the size needed but they were too big so I wish to exchange them for the right size. When I pulled the first packet out of the bag the woman looked at me in disgust and said ‘I’m not changing that it’s been opened’, I replied ‘yes but I wouldn’t have opened them if I knew they were the wrong size and it was the shops staff who had measured my son for them not me so their mistake not mine’, she then asked to see my receipt to see who had served me and informed me that the person who served me was a very experienced measurer, I informed her that the women who served me wasn’t the woman who measured my son and when she asked who it was I told her I didn’t know as I don’t know who her staff are. After all this she then told me that ‘the shop tells all customers to open packets carefully in case they need to be returned’, I was not told this when purchasing them which I told the woman and then asked what I was supposed to do and could I speak to the Manager. She informed me that she was the Manager and that it can’t be changed because the packet has been open and that’s retail law which I obviously know nothing about and I would have the same outcome in whatever shop I went to mentioning, Marks and Spencer’s, BHS and Sainsbury’s specifically but also added any shop would refuse to change them (this is untrue, as after leaving the shop and looking for shirts for my son in the right size at these specific shops mentioned and others was told by all of them that they would change the shirts without a problem). The Manager then told me that she wasn’t changing the shirts, so that was that, she wasn’t going to change her mind she knew the law and I didn’t so I couldn’t do a thing about it, I then asked who I could complain to about her and she said I’m the Manager so her and what she says goes so there was nothing I could do. I asked if I could speak to the owner as I wish to speak to them about her but was informed by her that they weren’t in and she could only give me there name and no other contact information and it wouldn’t make any difference anyway because the owner would have her back in whatever decision she makes. By this point I was getting irritated not only with the situation but with her whole attitude, I got the other two packets out which she asked if I wanted to exchange which I agreed to but her attitude was still appalling and a customer came along side me to make a purchase and I advised them not to purchase anything in the shop as they won’t be able to change it if it’s wrong, to which she completely lost it about. She preceded to tell me that it was none of my business,( but I am allowed to express my opinion and I didn’t want someone else to go through what I was), and was told it was totally inappropriate as there was children present, I did not raise my voice or swear once so have no idea what was inappropriate for children, and was told I could have the money back for the two packets of shirts that were not opened and then I had to leave the shop and not to come back. I informed her that I would be contacting someone about this matter and she told me to do what I like, contact the Citizens Advice Bureau and they’ll tell me she’s right and then they’ll contact her and she’ll tell them about me, what she could tell them about me I’m not sure. It was totally ridiculous and over the top and the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life, I now have two shirts that will never fit my son, please do not go to this shop, there are others around you can purchase from and who deserve your custom because these seriously don’t.

Found the staff very unhelpful and rude. I waited for an age for staff to end their conversation in the back room before they would come out and help. It seemed an inconvenience to serve me. So glad there is a Trutex in Plymouth now so that I can order my uniform on line. Would never visit this shop again or recommend it to friends and family (that's a lot of potential sales). AWFUL.
